Rectory Garden Project

We are fortunate to have some land adjacent to the St John's Rectory in Swalecliffe Court Drive which can be used for outdoor activities.

This could be used for fetes, community events (similar to the Platinum Jubilee one), strawberry teas, outdoor services etc, or by Chatterbox (our baby and toddler group), Blast! (our afterschool club) or for childrens' holiday clubs.  We may even be able to create a community vegetable garden to share!

At the moment the land is extremely overgrown - full of weeds, brambles and stinging nettles and completely lacking any resources.  We really want this to be a project which develops iinto a real asset and valuable resource for the community, to be available to and used by all ages.

We are really excited about the potential for St John's garden and want to hear your ideas.  We BADLY need help in tackling this space and although some progress has been achieved there is still much more to do!  We will be having regular working groups and would love it if you could come along and give us a hand.  You would be most welcome!  Please bring gloves and gardening tools (in particular loppers, secateurs, shears and rakes).  Refreshments will be provided.

We are looking to form a group to oversee the planning and progress for the garden as well as research ideas and make recommendations about best way forward.  If this is something you are interested in please contact Jane Myhill.
