Rectory Garden Project
(Swalecliffe Community Garden)

We are fortunate to have some land adjacent to the St John's Rectory in Swalecliffe Court Drive which we aim to use for outdoor activities such as fetes, community events (similar to the Platinum Jubilee one), strawberry teas, services,  and for our childrens' activities. We also hope to create a community vegetable garden to share!    We really want this to be a project which develops into a real asset and valuable resource for the community, to be available to and used by all ages.

The land was extremely overgrown when we started the project - full of weeds, brambles and stinging nettles and completely lacking any resources.  We have made a lot of progress over the past months but there is still a long way to go.  We BADLY need help in tackling this space. There are regular working groups and we would love it if you could come along and give us a hand.  You would be most welcome!  Please bring gloves and gardening tools (in particular loppers, secateurs, shears and rakes).  Refreshments will be provided.

We are looking to form a group to oversee the planning and progress for the garden as well as research ideas and make recommendations about best way forward.  If this is something you are interested in please contact Jane Myhill.  Below are some photos of our progress so far.
